St Leu Camp 6th to 8th May

Saint Leu camp will be held from the 6th to the 8th of May.

Key details

  • When: 6th to 8th May
  • Arrival time: 6th May. 13:45 – Opening ceremony at 2pm!
  • Pick up time: 8th May: 11:30
  • Where: Saint Leu d’Esserent, by the boating club. About 20 minutes from Chantily.
  • Cost: To be confirmed, but less than €50.

For the Scouts/Explorers, there is an idea that they will hike or cycle to the camp, and so the drop off time will be different. To be confirmed.

Purpose

The purpose of the camp is to give the cubs, scouts and explorers, the age relevant experience of being independent, sleeping outdoors, through a fun, hands on activities. It will give the leaders more time to work on badges with the children.

Safety and compliance

The camp will be run in strict accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of British Scouting, including required numbers of adults to children, safety checking, and risk assessments.

  • The cubs will be supervised by the cub leaders
  • The scouts will be supervised by the scout leaders
  • A qualified nights away permit holder will supervise
  • Additional volunteers will be brought in to help with some of the cooking.

What to bring

We will provide all tents, cooking equipment and food but the young people should bring their own sleeping bag, clothes, towels, cutlery in a strong bag or rucksack.

More details will be provided but we enclose a standard packing list and the permission form (to be returned at our next meeting).
